A long, long time ago, the creatures of the world were at peace. There was still death, and sickness, and hate, but there was peace. All life was at harmony with itself and with nature. All existence was at harmony with itself.
Then came the war. The horrible monsters did not take kindly to this peace and set about destroying it. Natural disasters were abundant. Terror and violence wreaked havoc amongst all life and nature, leaving only a barren wasteland. What little there was left tried to rise up and fight back, but all were ultimately squished beneath the monsters' collective heel. For a time, it was as if there was no light at all - not even from the moon.
Luckily for the world, a presence appeared. It was a strange presence; it was ever-changing and yet completely stable. It was more an idea than a presence, really. This idea took hold in the minds of all the creatures and plants, all the birds and the rocks, all the men and the clouds. The idea was simple: divided and conquered, united and conquering. In a physical sense they were united, but the idea was more than that. There was an underlying bond that existed in all of reality: not just in the minds of animals or the light of stars, but in the minds of stars and the light of animals. The idea dug so far into the very soil that it was no longer a single idea. It was a huge tree, with a thousand branches of people and places and things and thoughts and the future and the past and the present and knowledge and ignorance and one command: come to me. They did; everything did. The idea encompassed everything that there was to encompass until the monsters were trapped outside of this bubble, and then even they were sucked inside.
But it did not last. The Variable had integrated existence into itself but the monsters fought back. They fought back with all their strength until the bubble popped. The Variable could do little but stop it from just going all at once. Little by little, the idea was sucked away until everything was the same as it had been before. The monsters had won; the monsters would always win.
Until now.

You are standing in a dark clearing in the middle of a large forest. There is a large black bag. It appears to be made of plastic.

The bag is indeed made of plastic. It feels like there is something inside.
ReplyDeleteTexas II, I look around at my surroundings again, then open the bag.
ReplyDeleteThere are many trees. You feel like something is watching you.
ReplyDeleteOpening the bag reveals entrails and a dark red liquid.
I close the bag, grab it, and run to whence I came.
ReplyDeleteYou attempt to try and run away but hit a tree and fall down.
ReplyDelete...Are you fucking serious?
ReplyDeleteFine.
I dust myself off, open the bag, and stick my hand inside.
Your hand is now covered in entrails and a dark red liquid.
ReplyDeleteI wipe it off and put as much as I can in the bag. I leave the bag and go looking for whatever is watching me.
ReplyDeleteYou make your way into the trees. You cannot see the clearing anymore.

Nothing can help you.
ReplyDeleteYou cannot seem to find west.
I'm sorry, I don't know that word.
You don't know 'west'?
ReplyDeleteFine. I go left.
Direction is meaningless in the endless forest.
ReplyDeleteYou suck.
ReplyDeleteI check my pockets.

In your pockets you find a butterfly knife and a rotted apple core.
ReplyDeleteI discard the apple core and wield the butterfly knife.
ReplyDeleteI attempt to make it back to the bag.
You are lost.
ReplyDeleteI pocket the knife and climb a tree.
ReplyDeleteWarning: Switching to Standby for the night.
ReplyDeleteThe branches snap and you fall to the ground.
ReplyDelete......
ReplyDeleteI wander around aimlessly
You notice an ominous wind.
ReplyDeleteI go against the wind.
ReplyDeleteThe wind slams you into a tree. You hear an odd rustling.
ReplyDeleteyou should have mentioned it was strong wind.
ReplyDeleteI draw my knife, back up against a tree and wait.
A strange shadow covers you.
ReplyDeleteI get ready to pounce, and wait.
ReplyDeleteThe shadow lifts you off of the ground. You are helpless.
ReplyDeleteYay.
ReplyDeleteI sit back, relax, and enjoy the knife.
While I'm relaxing, I keep a firm hold of my knife.
You suddenly feel lightheaded as your intestines are ripped out of you. You are dead.
ReplyDeleteGame over. You can enter "respawn" to try again.
Respawn.
ReplyDeleteyou bitch.
You are standing in a dark clearing in the middle of a large forest. There is a large black bag. It appears to be made of plastic.
ReplyDeleteI open the bag and empty it on the ground in front of me.
ReplyDeleteThen I check my pockets.
There is now a pile of steaming entrails covered in a dark red liquid in front of you.
ReplyDeleteIn your pockets you find a butterfly knife and a rotted apple core.
I throw the core into the entrails.
ReplyDeleteI use my knife to cut open the stomach.
I search the insides of the stomach.
I look for the eyes and examine them.
I look for some limbs or a head or something.
You find three dirty gold pieces inside what appears to be a bear stomach.
ReplyDeleteYou do not find eyes.
You find a face.
I pocket the gold.
ReplyDeleteI examine the face to determine gender.
Then I go all Ed Gain on the face.
The face is too mangled to find any description.
ReplyDeleteA horrible stench attacks your nostrils. You fall to the ground.
I take the face off and begin breathing through my mouth.
ReplyDeleteIn a fit of rage I slice the face.
Your fingers are too bloody to get a hold.
ReplyDelete... I wipe the blood on my jacket and throw the jacket into the entrails.
ReplyDeleteI look around.
There are many trees. You feel like something is watching you.
ReplyDeleteI look around again. And three more times.
ReplyDeleteI attempt to breathe through my nose.
You notice a pale white orb.
ReplyDeleteYou sneeze.
OFUCK.
ReplyDeleteWell, I tried running already.
Maduin better be right.
I grab the face, run to the orb, and slam the face onto the orb.
You suddenly feel lightheaded as your intestines are ripped out of you. You are dead.
ReplyDeleteGame over. You can enter "respawn" to try again.
THE BUNNY LIED.
ReplyDeleteFucking shit. OK
Respawn.
Then, repeat everything up until "OFUCK."
You notice a pale white orb.
ReplyDeleteYou sneeze.
I wipe my nose, put away my knife.
ReplyDeleteI get on one knee and bow.
You suddenly feel lightheaded as your intestines are ripped out of you. You are dead.
ReplyDeleteGame over. You can enter "respawn" to try again.
Respawn.
ReplyDeleteThen, repeat everything up until "OFUCK."
You notice a pale white orb.
ReplyDeleteYou sneeze.
I run away from the orb.
ReplyDeleteYou attempt to try and run away but hit a tree and fall down.
ReplyDeleteShit. I walk away from the orb.
ReplyDeleteYou make your way into the trees. You cannot see the clearing anymore.
ReplyDeleteI examine my surroundings 5 times.
ReplyDeleteYou notice a pale white orb amongst the trees.
ReplyDeleteOK.
ReplyDeleteI throw the knife aside, and I stand there, looking at the orb with respect.
You suddenly feel lightheaded as your intestines are ripped out of you. You are dead.
ReplyDeleteGame over. You can enter "respawn" to try again.
Respawn and repeat everything up to "OFUCK."
ReplyDeleteYou notice a pale white orb.
ReplyDeleteYou sneeze.
I pick up as many entrails as I can and throw them at the orb.
ReplyDeleteMy knife as well.
You suddenly feel lightheaded as your intestines are ripped out of you. You are dead.
ReplyDeleteGame over. You can enter "respawn" to try again.
I give up.
ReplyDeleteGoodbye, and thanks for playing.
ReplyDeleteMy turn!
ReplyDeleteI check my pockets.
~Rose
In your pockets you find a butterfly knife and a rotted apple core.
ReplyDelete*opens the bag* *uses the knife to cut open the stomach*
ReplyDelete~Rose
That was so hilarious. I could not stop laughing for like ten minutes.
ReplyDeleteYou wouldn't be laughing if you were the one who's entrails were being ripped out.
ReplyDeleteGood thing I have an ace up my sleeve, then... >:3
ReplyDelete-Rose
Zabulon...when's the last time you actually SUCCEEDED at one of these things?
ReplyDeleteReally, man. Step it up or step aside.
I guess I'll play if Rose doesn't have any luck.
Opening the bag reveals entrails and a dark red liquid.
ReplyDeleteYou find three dirty gold pieces inside what appears to be a bear stomach.
*take gold pieces* *look around the clearing carefully*
ReplyDelete~Rose
You notice a pale white orb.
ReplyDeleteZach, I dare you to try and win. Just try. Try it, and then talk, mmk?
ReplyDeleteAh, but it's Rose's turn. Wouldn't be fair to butt in.
ReplyDeleteI'll be taking my turn soon enough.
*back away slowly*
ReplyDeleteYou find yourself against a tree.
ReplyDelete*side step tree*
ReplyDeleteYou make your way into the trees. You cannot see the clearing anymore.
ReplyDelete*keep moving*
ReplyDeleteIt is difficult to move through the brush. You stumble several times, receiving many cuts, and eventually make your way to a new clearing, which is about twice as large as the first. There is a rock in the middle of the clearing, small enough to fit in your pocket.
ReplyDelete//Oh, so SHE gets to leave the woods.
ReplyDelete*take rock* (May come in handy)
ReplyDeleteTaken.
ReplyDeleteTablet, are you seeing this? Your corrupt pal is giving an unfair advantage to the fairer sex. IT'S SEXIST.
ReplyDelete*look around clearing* (Would you stop complaining, Zabu?)
ReplyDeleteYou notice a pale white orb.
ReplyDeleteYou again!? *quickly leave clearing*
ReplyDeleteYou attempt to try and run away but hit a tree and fall down.
ReplyDelete//smirk
ReplyDelete*crawl into a bush* *throw the rock I picked up earlier as far away from me as I can*
ReplyDeleteYou notice an ominous wind. It rustles the leaves of the bush.
ReplyDelete*stay as still as possible*
ReplyDeleteA strange shadow covers you.
ReplyDelete*stay as still as possible*
ReplyDeleteThe shadow lifts you off of the ground. You are helpless.
ReplyDelete*brace myself for the enivitable*
ReplyDeleteYou suddenly feel lightheaded as your intestines are ripped out of you. You are dead.
ReplyDeleteGame over. You can enter "respawn" to try again.
Care to try again, Rose? Or would you like to pass the buck?
ReplyDeleteI've got nothing but time, so I can probably make SOME progress.
respawn and repeat up to leaving the second clearing.
ReplyDeleteYou notice a pale white orb.
ReplyDelete*leave the clearing*
ReplyDeleteYou make your way into the trees. You cannot see the clearing anymore.
ReplyDelete*keep moving*
ReplyDeleteYou continue moving. Nothing out of the ordinary occurs for approximately three miles but by this time your feet are hurting.
ReplyDelete*sit on a rock and take a five minute break*
ReplyDeleteYou rest your feet. You feel much better.
ReplyDelete*get up and keep walking*
ReplyDeleteYou go another four miles before collapsing. It occurs to you that you have not had a drink in two days.
ReplyDeleteYou notice an ominous wind.
*crawl into a bush as quietly as possible*
ReplyDeleteYou hear an odd rustling.
ReplyDelete//Rose, you should follow Noah's extreme hate of foliage and murder the bush.
ReplyDeleteAnd shout the word Fuck constantly.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget that.
//Oh yes, how silly of me to forget that.
ReplyDelete*stay put*
ReplyDeleteYou stay put. An hour passes.
ReplyDelete*slowly moves a branch aside, timing it with the breeze*
ReplyDeleteA strange shadow covers you.
ReplyDelete*throw the rock I picked up away from me*
ReplyDeleteThe shadow lifts you off of the ground. You are helpless.
ReplyDelete*shut my eyes*
ReplyDeleteYou suddenly feel lightheaded as your intestines are ripped out of you. You are dead.
ReplyDeleteGame over. You can enter "respawn" to try again.
respawn and repeat up to me getting up after my five minute break
ReplyDeleteYou rest your feet. You feel much better.
ReplyDelete*get up* *start looking for a stream or some other kind of water source*
ReplyDeleteA raindrop falls on your nose. Looking up, you see that it is actually blood from the dead body in a tree.
ReplyDelete*shivers* *sighs* *starts catching the blood* *drinks it when I think I have enough* (Hey, Blood IS mostly water.)
ReplyDeleteIt occurs to you that you have not had a drink in two days. You feel refreshed.
ReplyDelete*wipe the blood off from around my mouth* *resume walking*
ReplyDeleteAfter an hour of walking the treeline becomes much sparser and you find a fast stream.
ReplyDelete//LOL.
ReplyDelete*drinks water* *washes off any remaining blood* *follows stream*
ReplyDeleteThe stream leads you to a waterfall. It is hard to see the bottom through the mist.
ReplyDelete//Careful, Rose. What if there be the Slendy-kins in that waterfall.
ReplyDelete*cautiously approach the waterfall, moving from rock to rock*
ReplyDeleteYou manage to avoid slipping. Several dead fish swiftly zoom by. You are now at the edge of the waterfall.
ReplyDelete*picks up one of the dead fish*
ReplyDeleteTaken.
ReplyDelete*examines Dead fish*
ReplyDeleteIt is a dead fish.
ReplyDeleteEat the fish, Rose.
ReplyDeleteEAT IT.
//"EAT MY BASS."
ReplyDelete(No) *drops fish* *follows the river downstream*
ReplyDeleteIn going farther downstream you have fallen off the cliff. Your body is dashed upon the rocks below.
ReplyDeleteGame over. You can enter "respawn" to try again.
My turn, now?
ReplyDeleteI've played adventure games before. I think I might be able to get somewhere.
I'll check my pockets.
In your pockets you find a butterfly knife and a rotted apple core.
ReplyDeleteI'll open the bag, and cut open the stomach for the contents.
ReplyDeleteThen I'll start making my way into the forest. Slowly, of course. Running won't really do much good.
You find three dirty gold pieces inside what appears to be a bear stomach.
ReplyDeleteYou make your way into the trees. You cannot see the clearing anymore.
Keep going, until I find another clearing. I'd also like to inspect these gold pieces; besides the obvious blood and gunk, do they seem eroded?
ReplyDeleteIt is difficult to move through the brush. You stumble several times, receiving many cuts, and eventually make your way to a new clearing, which is about twice as large as the first. There is a rock in the middle of the clearing, small enough to fit in your pocket.
ReplyDeleteThe pieces are about as large around as your hand. One has a symbol of a sun. One has a symbol that looks like a key. One has a large X in it. Otherwise they appear weathered but not old.
Alright, then. Put them in a pocket, along with the rock, and take a ten minute break. If nothing happens by then, I'll keep going. I assume he's still after me, though I can't imagine why.
ReplyDeleteAs the seconds roll by you notice a slow fog rolling into the clearing. It is very low and does not seem abnormal. Ten minutes pass.
ReplyDeleteI'll keep going, making sure to keep an eye out for the sound of water...or wind...or animals...or...anything...
ReplyDelete(Wait... Hang on! I thought I was at the 'Bottom of the waterfall'!)
ReplyDelete"It is hard to see the bottom through the mist."
ReplyDeleteWould be easier if you were on the bottom.
Grrrr... I call next round. I did not give up, I got called away.))
ReplyDeleteYou continue moving. Nothing out of the ordinary occurs for approximately three miles but by this time your feet are hurting.
ReplyDeleteZork. That was always fun when I was younger. Should've invested.
ReplyDelete//Have some faith. The coins, you should try using each when the 'shadow lifts you'..
ReplyDeleteRespawn and Repeat up to me picking up the dead fish.
ReplyDeleteRose, it's not your turn.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying an experiment, I want to see if TexasII can handle more than one player at a time. ~Rose
ReplyDeleteOh, what a fun game! And what is the point of this?
ReplyDeleteWho knows?
ReplyDeleteOnly one way to find out. ~Rose
ReplyDeleteI'll rest for another five minutes; sit at the nearest tree, rock, whatever. Then I'll keep heading along in the same direction. Still paying attention to any sounds.
ReplyDeleteYou rest your feet. You feel much better.
ReplyDeleteAfter some time, a raindrop falls on your nose. Looking up, you see that it is actually blood from the dead body in a tree. It occurs to you that you have not had a drink in two days.
I'd really like to avoid drinking blood, but...fine.
ReplyDeleteI'll let a bit of it drip into my cupped hands, and drink. Then I'm continuing on the path.
You feel refreshed.
ReplyDeleteAfter an hour of walking the treeline becomes much sparser and you find a fast stream.
I'll drink from the stream; blood is nice, but this is better.
ReplyDeleteThen I'll follow the stream the same direction Rose went.
The stream leads you to a waterfall. It is hard to see the bottom through the mist.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to go upstream this time.
ReplyDeleteOr...whichever way doesn't lead me to the drop off.
By drinking from the stream and eating dead fish you manage to survive for approximately ten miles. You come to a large stone doorframe. It does not appear to go anywhere.
ReplyDeleteStarting over.
ReplyDeleteRespawn and repeat up to me picking up the dead fish.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, that game does not exist anymore.
ReplyDelete
